If both original posts and replies are clickable they should both be available on a popular page. Like the man says, replies are likely to get more clicks anyway, and if it was available we'd all use it. I'm not sure how it works on /talk - is there an expiry for posts or do they just fall off the bottom when a post supercedes?

Also, separate popular pages for both /offtopic and the current question if at all possible.
