Third EVER Derby Bash!
Heheh, thought I'd drop this in here so I can start gauging when people would prefer the bash to be this year, or even venue etc. most of the details are changable right now :)



The past two have been October, so I've set this one for the beginning of the month 2008, obviously a long way away yet but I'd really appreciate some preferences trickling through. I'll stick with the same venue unless I get requests otherwise as I quite enjoyed having our own bar last year!

UPDATE: 22/04/08 The majority of votes seems to be falling on Oct. 4th so I have gone ahead and booked the function room for that date now, it's only provisional for now but I think most people are happy for that to be the one :)

UPDATE: 13/06/08 We are officially booked in and paid up for the 4th October now, so get signing up dilly-dalliers ;)
As with last year there will be floor space available but it is limited unless you are just after somewhere to stick a sleeping bag down. Basically there is a sofa, (small) double sofa bed, double mattress and two single mattresses up for kippage. In theory this means we can put up seven people (reasonably) comfortably, with the potential for a couple more if desperate and happy to be on the floor.

So far it's looking like:

6. Dixon?
7. NeonBlue?

Floor space:
1. Tom O'Bedlam
2. Laird Dave

...but please let me know if you don't want/need the crash space!

For those of you still looking for somewhere to stay try looking here
The International is just 60 seconds from our flat (10 mins from the pub) which has some very mixed reviews online, but a few people we know have stayed there and haven't had any complaints
Another option is the Heritage Hotel which is in the town centre and a fair few b3tans have crashed before.

I've been led to believe that we can get into the room from about 5:30pm but myself and the Prof will probably be down there from around 4pm due to band-settage-uppage (Prof) and general faux-alcoholism (Me).

It has decent music and some life to it
there's no accounting for taste ;)

The first year we were packed downstairs and it had the most amazing atmosphere, and the second we were upstairs in the function room and had our own bar!
I must admit I have no complaints about that place, and it's one of my favourite pubs in Derby :)

Hm.
I considered going to the last one, but I can't remember why I didn't go. Anyway, assuming fundages are sufficient to afford the train (which would be topping £30, so not like I can't afford it), I might actually be up for this one. Might being the keyword, as my life changes so goddam often that I can't be sure that I'll even be in the same country by then..

If I were to go, I would need some form of crashspace (I'm good with beds, floors and I've even slept on stairs).

Anyway, it's about 4:30am, so I should sleep before I ramble on more in some strange attempt to stop being shy, even though I'm typing over the internet. Go figure...

Because there are at least a few already signed up who think they wouldn't be well recieved, or consider themselves socially awkward (as I am myself, but people just assume I'm being purposefully odd). It don't matter, just the turning up and taking part.

I thought the whole point about bashes
was to get a large group of people being socially awkward together until it reaches critical mass and gets entertaining?
Ineptitude can be an artform in and of itself, especially when added to this alcomahol stuff :P
